4 Summer Essentials and a nice to have
With the prospects of a long summer, it is not to late to invest in your summer essentials! While bathing shorts are probably the most top of mind currently, here are some of the essentials that just add the extra touch to your appearance.
A Frisky Summer Fragrance
When its a searing 75.000 °C (or at least it feels that way..) it feels great to freshen up your musky scent of sweat by opting for a lighter and more frisky scent. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been fortunate to test the ‘Wandervogel’ by 27 87 Perfumes. Its a light and playful fragrance that lasts for a long a time, even in the heat. What I really like about the Wandervogel is how the mint top note stands out, but is complemented with a light touch of amber and leather from the bottom notes. Even over a longer time.
Top notes: Mint, shiso leaves, marine accord
Mid notes: Anise, fennel, white floral
Bottom notes: Caramel, leather, amber.
27 87 Perfumes is established in 2016 and thus a new player on the fragrances. All of their scents are very playful and unconventional, while paying respects to traditions of high-end perfumes. Last but not least, all of the scents are considered unisex, which is totally fitting! So don’t be surprised if the misses steals your perfume! But to be honest, I think that’s a little sexy! She walks around smelling just like you.

Not Your Average Sunscreen
You’ve heard it probably a million times before, but be careful about the time you spend in the sun. Evenmore, always use sunscreen if you spend longer times in direct sunlight.
I can highly recommend the MUTI sunscreens. I’ve tried the MUTI Body SPF 30, SPF 50, and the MUTI Face SPF 50 anti age. They all contain the safe chemical compound Allantoin which aids the body in its cell development and reduces skin irritation. Allantoin can also be found in moisturisers, meaning that the MUTI sunscreen can also be used as a moisturiser. Especially the ingredients of the Face SPF 50 anti age ensures long lasting moisturising of the deeper levels of the facial skin. Last but not least, the water resistant formula makes sure that you’ll be able to jump in the water just shortly after applying the sunscreen.

Leather Loafers – or something similar!
Ditch your oxfords or brogues for once, its summer time! Find a pair of loafers they’ll go perfectly with your cropped or rolled chinos, or even with your shorts. In fact, the shorts are way better complemented by loafers or strap sandals, than a closed up lace shoe. The good thing about the loafers is that they have a very versatile span, meaning you can wear them with your formal wardrobe or your very informal wardrobe. In general its just such a stable in any man’s wardrobe!
I really like these from Lædersmeden with the braided upper and a buckle detail, which sets them apart from the regular penny loafers. Evenmore, they are a great substitute for the boat shoe (which I am not really a fan of!). You can wear these Lædersmeden loafers with chinos, jeans, shorts. Really, more or less everything.

Whats a summer essentials list without sunglasses? The market for sunglasses is evolving quickly right now. A lot of bolder shapes and brands are currently really entering the game. One of the brands that constantly caters to both some of the more classical but also contemporary shapes is the belgian brand Komono. And even better, they come with a very reasonable price tag!

Nice to have: A good notebook!
We all know the feeling of having to do some stuff on the laptop, but its frankly impossible to sit with it in the sun. Scribble down your ideas and structuring them on a piece of paper before typing it into the computer speeds up the typing pace radically. Moreover, it lets you think through the topic twice making you realise potential pitfalls.
