The 5 Best Dressed Men at the Oscars 2018
With all the glamour surrounding the annual Academy Award show, then it is no wonder that nominees and other guests do their very erlest to impress the world wide audience. The ladies, as well as the gents. The male red carpet looks was high dominated by a general straying away from the classic tuxedo, which gives plenty of room to add their personal (or more likely stylists and designers) twist. But lets see who made the list of best dressed men at the oscars 2018.
Best dressed men at the oscars 2018
Dressed in Haute Couture Givenchy made Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman stand out as probably my favourite look the red carpet tonight. Notice how the contemporary boots highlights the embroidery on his jacket.
Oscar nominée Timothée Chalamet (best male leading role in Call Me By Your Name) was dressed in a white Berluti tuxedo contrasted perfectly by a pair of black boots. What you need to give this guy credit for, is that he in fact claims he uses no stylist. He apparently has too much fun with fashion (who can blame him!). But he does it very well, especially when he shows up in Berluti or Calvin Klein By Raf Simons. His ability make these style moves unguided definitely ensures him a spot on the list of best dressed men at the oscars 2018.
When everyone does black, do something else. So did Armie Hammer in a red velvet tuxedo from Giorgio Armani.
Tom Holland wasn’t wearing his red and blue Spiderman suit, but a neatly tight fitted custom-made Hermès suit.
Ansel Elgort (from The Fault In Our Stars) dressed impeccably in Tom Ford while highlighting that a man best accessory is his significant other. While his beautiful girlfriend is a big part of his appearance, then it is still the Tom Ford hanging on his shoulders that serves him a spot on the list of best dressed men at the oscars 2018.
The Joker – James Ivory
What is worth highlighting in James Ivory’s red carpet appearance is his shirt, and for two reasons. First, it’s never too late to make a fashion statement! Second, this means that Timothée Chalamet is on this list for the second time. The portrait on the shirt is depicting Chalamet in support of his role in Call Me By Your Name (which Ivory himself is Screenwriter on).
The One I Didn’t Like
While opting for bolder colors can be a statement move that will take your appearance far and wide across the media, then Darell Britt Gibson’s appearance was in my eyes not cut for the academy award. The jacket may look well, but isn’t well accompanied. The trousers are in my opinion too cropped, especially if you are too – like Gibson – wear what looks like a pair of slightly worn out nubuck derbies. The look would have been served much better with the trousers being 3-4 centimeters longer (at least) and a pair of oxfords in smooth calfskin would have served this look much. Further, ditch the tie and chose a bowtie instead.
