CPH Fashion Week SS18 Diary Day 1
PIT STOP @ 9PR
First stop of the fashion week was a drop by the wonderful 9PR team’s showroom to have a look at some of the coming collections. Personally I was obsessing over this cool jacket from Black Dot with peak lapels (seriously cool!) as well as these gorgeous handcrafted sunglasses from VIU Eyewear! The 9PR team had also hired a photographer, who took some cool portrait shots. Obviously the narcissist that I am wanted to have a few shots fired.
ZALANDO STUDIOS x COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK
The online retail giant Zalando had arranged a few Talks with some business insiders over the course of the afternoon. Of these talks was especially three of these interesting. The Designer Talk, Trend Talk and the My Personal Brand Talk. The first of the mentioned included designers from the Norwegian brand Holzweiler who’s show I’m looking forward to see, Marianne Brandi of Day Birger et Mikkelsen, and the designer of Uniforms for the Dedicated who’s show I’m also going to see. These discussed among other things the differences between Swedish, Danish and Norwegian design identities, as well as the fact of being a family run business, which both Holzweiler and Day Birger et Mikkelsen are.
The trend talk panel consisted of Mie Juel of ELLE and Mads Emil Grove of Dossier. Mie explained that for the ladies (Christmas gift ideas!) white boots, big earrings, the color red and masculine coats was key trends. Mads Emil Grove elaborated on trends such as silk shirts (a big yes please!), technical jackets, 80’s suiting and high vs street wear colabs. Colabs that he personally for sure must be a fan of as he was wearing a much hyped Louis Vuitton x SUPREME cross body bag.
The third talk I digged was the My Personal Brand Talk with the always cool guy Virgil Nicholas and Janka Polliani. These two discussed the whole influencer industry and how it led them to be what they are today.
Every year since 2003 has talented nordic design students been awarded the chance to show their collection during the Copenhagen Fashion Week with the chance of winning the grand prize of 50.000 Danish kroner. First of all I think it’s a great opportunity for the students, but also fun as a audience, as you get to see a whole lot (hopefully) unbiased work!
This year’s winner was Elnaz Gargari from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. A somewhat political and very unlike of how we perceive western fashion. Congratulations! Personally my favourites was from many of the other talented design students.
WHAT I WORE
I really am fond of that whole stripe on stripes look. So my first CPH Fashion Week SS18 look was based on this trend. A striped flannel shirt from Zara, a striped t-shirt from weekday, black cropped trousers and then a pair of running inspired sneakers for a more athletic vibe!
Remember to read along tomorrow where we will zoom in on e.g.. Holzweiler, Han Kjøbenhavn and Henrik Vibskov.
