Jardin des Tuileries and so much more…

Of course, when in Paris you have to explore all the great treasures of the Louvre museum. Like the 50 billion other people who has also decided to spend their day at Louvre… But who can blame them? Of course the Mona Lisa area is a crowded – you have to fight your way through just to get a glimpse of this masterpiece. But as soon as you take the time walk through the wings of this extrodinary palace you may enjoy yourself. I particular enjoyed the greek wing and the apartment of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Anyone who has spend hours in a museum knows that it is rather exhausting. So we went to the Jardin des Tuileries, which is a grand beautiful park just outside the Louvre. C’est magnifique! At Jardin des Tuileries, there is this little Patisseries called PAUL (don’t actually know if there is more than just one though). So we bought a sandwich each and went to one of the ponds and sat in the renown green chairs. As the garden is grand and spacious (even though it is located in the centre of Paris!) it has plenty of room for birds. Just throwing a few crumbs to the birds gathered a great flock jumping around us. Eventually we were able feed these birds from our very hands. An adorable and wonderful experience! I can’t emphasize this enough, this a gorgeous place, that you definitely want to explore when in Paris!

After dinner at restaurant near Jardin des Tuileries  we went for a stroll along the Seine ending up at the Eiffel Tower. We had already the first day explored the grandiose view from the Eiffel tower, however enjoying the view in the night when gazing upon all the Parisian lights, is just breathtaking! It’s truly romantic to just stand together and delve into the illuminated view of Paris. The funniest thing of course happened when we were going down. A magician, who was there anyway started to show card tricks (and we immediately started to check our pockets!). He involved the very people in the queue to get down and then this thing happened. I shit you not. He was doing a trick with a coin, making it appear in weird places when he suddenly said “… and the weirdest thing is, that this shoe suddenly is in my hand”. He had managed to trick us to follow his hands so closely, that he was able to pick up his shoe somehow! I’m rarely amazed by magicians, as I know that it is just a question of manipulation, but this blew me away!

About the outfit

I’m a huge fan of adding some sartorial edge to a modern street look and vice versa. As long as it’s done with modesty and precision! For this day I thought I would do an interpretation of a Parisian look matched with this sort of mixed look I just mentioned. For the French inspiration I went with a striped tee, to give it a “miming” vibe and of course the obvious scarf! As for the modern aspect, I went with a pair of white Stan Smiths and a pair of light blue destroyed jeans. About the sartorial edge, I’m in for a light coloured blazer with elbow patches. Of course a little pocket square is in it’s place.
