Musky Perfume Recommendations
I won’t say that I’m addicted to perfume. But I do feel naked when I’m not wearing any! For a long time I’ve sworn to the sporty and fresh fragrances, but lately I’ve shifted more towards the heavier and more musky. Something more masculine and sensual. This is why I’ve got 3 musky perfume recommendations for you. Three fragrances that help you get your musk on, in three very different ways!
Molton Brown Oudh Accord & Gold
This fragrance reminds me most of all like an idyllic version of sex in the morning. Fresh and cheeky yet very deep and musky. The cinnamon leaf combined with the elemi oil creates a wonderful exotic (and erotic) scent. A scent that is well accompanied by a deep wooden notes.
Oudh Accord & Gold pretty much lasts all day. It actually only becomes better after a few hours, where some of the sharpness of the fragrance has levelled out.
The French olfactory Æther works with fragrances based on synthetically produced ingredients. In this particular perfume are Cetalox and synthetic muscone the main ingredients. Both ingredient with a very musky scent (hence the name). The description of Muskethanol that you find on Æther’s website reads as follows:
MUSKETHANOL. A SEMBLANCE OF REALISM: A HANDFUL OF GOLDEN SAND POURED IN ALCOHOL (DAMASCENONE) THAT STARTS TO GLOW, AS IF BY MAGIC, A THOUSAND SEQUINS, A SILVER SHIMMER SIMILAR TO THE SEA. THE DISTURBING IMPRESSION OF SAND THAT HAS BEEN RENDERED ALMOST ABSTRACT. A SAND OF STEEL, FUTURISTIC, PERHAPS FROM ANOTHER WORLD
Muskethanol is a pretty convenient and simple fragrance, as the heavy musk comes across very lightly. It doesn’t intoxicate the entire atmosphere around you, but it still oozes of confidence. So if you’re looking for a light yet deep musky fragrance, then this is for you. Only thing that I personally miss, is a bit of longitivtiy. After being on the run for 5-6 hours you’ll want another splash. But thats just me.
RPL Parfums Oud Voyage
This perfume I’ve personally fallen so deep in love with, that it instantly became my go-to (replacing the Mark Buxton Wood & Absinth which you can read about here). It’s a woody, musky yet flowery and oriental scent. Sounds overwhelming? Well having a look at the ingredients gives you a quite clear idea of what its all about.
TOP : BERGAMOT, MANDARIN
HEART : LILLY OF THE VALLEY, ROSE, PATCHOULI, CEDAR WOOD
DRY DOWN : AMBER, VANILLA, MUSC, FRANKINCENSE
While the flowery and oriental aspects of the fragrance keeps your atmosphere fresh, then the musky and woody elements adds a quite masculine side to this unisex perfume. The deep musky notes becomes somewhat of a firm hand that really controls and shapes the exotic top notes. This is definitely for the man who loves deep complexity, enjoys luxury and has no issue with his girlfriend stealing his perfume occasionally.
