New Direction At Givenchy
Clare Waight Keller Taking Over Creative Direction At Givenchy
Since Ricardo Tisci left the parisian couture house Givenchy in January it has been uncertain who was to carry on the creative torch. Now it seems that this question is answered. Supposedly it is Clare Waight Keller who has just presented her last collection as creative director of Chloé – a brand that really has prospered lately! But now Clare Waight Keller is to take over both the menswear and womenswear lines of Givenchy.
Clare Waight Keller tells that she is very much inspired by Hubert de Givenchy, whose elegance more often than not dressed icons such as Audrey Hepburn. Taking this into account, as well as her designs over at Chloé, it may indicate that the future of Givenchy are very different from the Givenchy that Tisci presented. A Givenchy that has a very dark, subversive and luxurious-hip-hop-esque aesthetic.
Considering Clare Waight Keller’s success with it bags at Chloé, it would be much likely that the it-bags this fall may come with a Givenhy logo. And hopefully something very different from the Antigona bag!
Her success at the womenswear is undeniable. But can she keep up with the menswear? She has previously been working alongside Tom Ford and Christopher Bailey (currently at Burberry) at Gucci, as well as being a senior designer at the menswear Ralph Lauren purple line. For those who do not know, this is the exclusive high end Ralph Lauren collection.
I have faith in her, and I’m looking very much forward to see her first collection presented this fall.
