Saint Laurent delivers for a black summer
A few years ago I really fell in love with the maison of Yves Saint Laurent. By that time the design was under direction of wonder boy Hedi Slimane. A designer that continuously seemed to increase the popularity of Saint Laurent. His era eventually had to end leaving the direction to another talented designer, namely Antontho Vaccarello.
Now that we’re two shows into his tenure, then I can say this: He definitely delivers his own take when it comes to womenswear. Voluminous pieces with short skirts, feathers and fringes. All delivered to create a dark and mysterious yet self enjoying universe. However, when it comes to menswear Vaccarello is true to the Saint Laurent universe that I fell in love with. He has strayed away from the super slim silhouette of Slimane, but maintained the dark, gloomy and sexy universe.
Vaccarello seems to advocate a certain menswear mantra Never deviate from black pants. Every single menswear entrance wore black bottoms, but were combined with different sequin jackets, bombers, leather jackets, voluminous shirts. I can’t do anything but approve of this! We’re probably not all going to agree on wearing sequin jackets (and that’s a good thing!) but damn it looks chic.
Here are my 6 favourite looks.
