Slimane to takeover Céline

If you’re only interested in menswear, then Phoebe Philo’s departure from the French womenswear brand Céline properly won’t ring a bell. But here is why you should care anyway.. You see the super chic French brand currently holds a very strong position in the fashion industry, and now that Philo is gone, then the brand is set to expand into the realm of menswear as well. And who better to do this than the unemployed ex-Saint Laurent star designer Hedi Slimane? Slimane will not only be in charge of menswear, but holds a title as Artistic, Creative og Image Director which includes every single metier. A big workload!

For you unaware of the name Slimane, well he used to design for Saint Laurent (from 2012) up until last year where he was replaced by former Versace designer Anthony Vaccarello. Before Saint Laurent he spent 5 years designer menswear for Dior HOMME. So his impact is certain! He was the one that manifested the slim Saint Laurent rock n roll look that still is highly relevant.

So why should you care that he has joined Céline? Because it is most likely to be your new favourite menswear brand! I look forward to September where he is to present his first collection!

Best Regards,

Portrait De L’HOMME
