Van Gogh and Vans proves that art and skate go hand in hand
Using art as inspiration for fashion is nothing new. In fact, a lot couture take off set in art pieces. However, skate pieces with post-impressionistic art is not something you see every day. The match could however, not have been any better. Vans are one of the go-to brands for a lot of creatives nowadays, and it somehow makes sense to blend the skate and art scene.
The Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam describes Van Gogh as being “most noted for his work that evokes beauty, emotion and color bringing his personal expression to life through his art”. The four iconic Van Gogh pieces that this collaboration is entered around is Skull, Almond Blossom, Sunflowers and his famous Self-portrait.
The collection will drop in selected Vans stores, the Vans website and the vangoghmuseumshop.com on August third. Personally, I’m psyched about the skull slip-on and sweat, as well as the self-portrait tee! I look forward to see these pieces on streets!
