Mens strappy sandals is a tender topic that many men try to avoid. Mainly because it easily may come across as tacky, dad like or just very unfashionable. However, in particular that last thing is simply just not true. On the contrary, strap sandals can be a very strong fashion move! To better guide you I’ve assembled a few tips, do’s and and dont’s for you if you want to provide your feet with a bit of fresh air during the warm summer months.
Tips, Dos and Don’ts for wearing strappy mens sandals
1. No right or wrong
First of all, there is no definitive right or wrong way to do a styling. Its a matter of what you want to express, and your ability to pull it off.
2. Never go hiking!
Keep in mind that there is a big difference among sandals! Generally, stay clear of hiking sandals. Unless you’re using for practical purposes, or you’re able to pull it off as a fashion statement it shouldn’t be in your wardrobe. That last option are only very few able to do and still they have to be careful. Instead, opt for a pair of classic leather strap sandals.
3. Be safe, wear shorts!
As you only really wear strappy mens sandals during the summer, stay with the summer connotations, and wear your strap sandals with a pair of shorts.
4. Careful with the jeans!
Never wear your hiking sandal (also see #2) with jeans. A leather strap sandal may be okay, as long as either jeans are cropped, or have a small roll up, to give them a summer vibe. If you leave yours jeans down in full length (the hem resting on the foot) while wearing your well ventilated footwear, it may come across more as sloppy than stylish. Cuff ’em up or opt for a pair of cropped jeans in that case.
5. Suit up!
Strap sandals and suits are okay, if you are able to pull them off as a laid back fashion statement. It can come across as a really bold and nonchalant style move all in one. However, as with the jeans be careful with the length of the trousers. If you’re uncomfortable, wear it at home and get comfy with it.
6. Know your office
In some environments are wearing sandals to the office okay, however, a general rule would be to never wear the sandals to the office. However, you know your office code of conduct better than I will ever do.
7. Socks in sandals
If your that stereotype that likes to wear socks, in particular white tennis socks, in your sandals, now is the time to flash them! Current high fashion trends dictate that this is in fact a-okay!
8. Don’t be afraid!
Last but not least, don’t be afraid to wear strappy mens sandals!
